Why I Am Not A Trainer
I got asked a question by a friend of mine.
It’s one I’ve gotten before.
“Why don’t you put together a course on SEO or
PPC to teach novices what you do?”
My answer?
There are already enough trainers out there in my humble
opinion. I see way too many, and I mean WAY TOO MANY
people out there calling themselves network marketing
“trainers” or internet marketing “trainers”.
I was on Twitter today. The “Similar to you” space on the
right side bar had some profile snippets.
One was for a guy who said he was an attraction marketing
“trainer”. I clicked through to his blog. More than half of
the home page above the fold is occupied by a graphic of
himself and his self-proclamation that he’s a network marketing
“trainer” and an internet marketing “trainer.”
In this day and age, in this economy, I’d rather hear
from a DOER. I’d rather hear from someone who
fights a battle in the trenches every day and is willing
to report back with results from the day’s combat.
You ever see the HBO series, “Band Of Brothers”?
A lieutenant named Sobel “trained” Easy Company based
on a lot of theory. He was a “trainer” alright.
But he folded when it came time to face the enemy.
A man named Winters (one of the greatest American heroes of all time IMHO)
was not a “trainer”.
He didn’t work strictly from theory.
He led his men into battle with a “come follow me” attitude.
I’m going to keep doing the same in the digital marketing arena.
I’m just going to keep doing.
